Gary O’Brien is one of the area’s leading distance runners.
A runner since his early teens, he has won dozens of races including the Swindon Half Marathon twice.
He has represented Great Britain at the World and European Masters Championships, winning a team silver medal at the 2019 World Master’s Championships in Malaga and earnt selection to the England Athletics Masters team in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
He holds Swindon Harriers club records for distances from 1 mile to the marathon and has won numerous British Masters titles from in distances from 1 mile to 10 miles.
